Testimonies

These testimonies cover a wide range of issues and subsequent healings.  They are representative of the many healings that have occurred with help from Christian Science nurses at Beacon Haven and its previous facilities.

The names of the individuals are available only with their permission and Beacon Haven.

"... I knew I would be healed."
Beacon Haven - September 2009

“With the aid of a visiting Christian Science nurse who came to my home when I found myself suddenly unable to use my left arm and side, or to think clearly, I decided to go to Beacon Haven.
“The moment I entered Beacon Haven I knew I would be healed.
“The love, support and encouragement of all the Christian Science nurses helped me focus completely on my true relation to God as His perfect image and likeness.  I was healed.
“I am so grateful that Beacon Haven truly does ‘support proper care and an atmosphere expectant of healing.’”

An Accident

Many calls to the Christian Science Nurse Phone Support Service come after some sort of accident like a burn, a cut, or a fall that needs immediate help.  These calls come at all hours of the day and night.
Recently we received a call after 11 p.m. from a person who had taken a nasty fall while leaving a downtown theater.   We sent a Christian Science nurse to her who cared for the wound and, because the person lived alone, arranged a stay in a Christian Science facility.  In a few days the patient returned home completely free.  Even the theater manager told us he was impressed that a call at that hour would provide the help to meet the need.

A Young Girl

When a young girl was bitten by a family dog, Christian Science Nurse Phone Support was able to instantly help the dad (who was not a Christian Scientist) dress the wound before taking the child to the ER for stitches.  In the following week a visiting Christian Science nurse attended the case with the result that this beautiful child was left without a single mark on her face.  During the process, our Christian Science nurse also loved the dog to pieces and helped the family remove any fear that had come from an incident where neither the dog nor child had been at fault.

Infant Care

Our Christian Science Nurse Phone Support answers many questions on care for newborns, infants, and young child.  Our service worked for over a year with one first time mother and her first child who had no other access to a Christian Science nurse who could help and support her with breast feeding, feeding schedules, and other baby care questions.

"Remember that God is"
Clifton House – 1982

"… I came down with pneumonia ... and just when I thought things couldn’t get any worse, I developed what appeared to be a blocked intestine.
"Finally, I checked into (Clifton House) ... that was the turning point.  The first words the Christian Science nurse said to me were ‘Remember that God is.’ It was such a simple statement.  And it stayed with me.
“… I learned during this healing . . . to love more and to forgive myself — and to let God love me.  I also learned that what may appear to be a physical problem is actually something I can deal with mentally, with the truth of God and His creation.”

"A Small Lad"
Star of Bethlehem - August 1931

"A small lad of seven from Wisconsin, who comes from a home where there has been a serious financial struggle, was in great need of healing. . . The anxiety and deprivation in the home were constantly reflected on this one frail member of the family.

"By special arrangement . . . from members of the Christian Science Society where he attends Sunday School, the loving ministrations of the Sanatorium (Star of Bethlehem) were extended to him, and it would gladden your hearts to see how much light and joy has come into that wan little face, in a few weeks."

"The Healing Place"
Beacon Haven - May 2011

“I was called by my day care provider and told to pick up my four-year-old son because of their concern about his health,” a mother told the Christian Science nurse when she brought her son to Beacon Haven.
After spending a few hours at the facility with the Christian Science nurses, both the boy and his mother found their needs met by the services and atmosphere at Beacon Haven.
“A couple weeks later my son woke up with sniffles. When I came to him,” his mother said, “he told me, ‘I want to go to the healing place.’”
What a wonderful insight.  No one had used this terminology with him.
